En route stopover at the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. (77km 11/2 hr)

Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
The Orphange is on the Colombo – Kandy road is Pinnawela, where an orphanage was started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded elephants. The number of elephants has increased to more than 65 now; including Baby Elephants brought from various parts, as well as more then 25 babies born, as a result of the captive breeding programme. The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0930-1000 hrs and 1330-1400 hrs and the bathing time from 1000-1030 hrs and 1400-1430 hrs when all the elephants are taken to the river near by.

Kandy (1hr 10minutes 42 km) Check into your hotel followed by a Kandy city tour in the afternoon. Kandy is, perhaps, its most beautiful town on the island. commence Kandy. City Is known for the diversity where City tour including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Arts and Handicrafts Centre and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic & a Gem Museum

* Kandy – the hill capital. Venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.

* Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic – ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess’ hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession. Dinner and overnight in Kandy.



After breakfast drive to the hill country of Munnarand Get the Introduction to Yoga and Meet the Guruji for the understanding and Karmic Shastra Evening Yoga session, Over night at hotel.



Aftr breakfast we would proceed for Dunuwala (the location where ravana died) There is a belief that Ravana soul still exist inside the rock positioned left and in2012 turned right .This is the place where Rama fired deadly Brahmasthram weapon at king Ravana . The meaning is Dunu means Arrow and Vila means Lake hence this is the place where lord Rama fired arrow from the lake and Laggala (the place where Ravana prayed to Lord Shiva) .

This name is derived from the SinhalatermElakke Gala with an english meaning” Target rock” . This was the watch tower of Ravana Army and it was from here the Ravana army sited Rama’s Army .The hill is the tallest point of Northeastern region and on a clear day ThiruKoneshwaran and TalaiMannar are visible .ThiruKoneshwaran is the rock where Ravana Meditated for Lord Shiva . The top point lo watch tower Laggala is flat and once the Ravana was killed by Brahmastram it further stuck at Laggala to end the batter and finish the watch tower

Yahangala means bed rock , according to the Ramayana Legends King ravanas body lay here on a rock for the last Darshanam and prayers .He was given lot of respect , but there is another version also about Yahangala which says Ravana body still ley here hidedn inside the rock on his leftside and in 2012 turned to right side and one day would wake up Werangtota was the Capital of King Ravana and the place of flying chariot landing . There is a belief that Sita was first brought here in the Vimana (aircraft) . The location had beautiful Palace of Queen Mandodri with streams , waterfalls , jungle and innumerable greenbelt

Sitakotuwa is translated as Sita’s Fort , ruins can still be seen here of later typical forest monestary from the Anuradhapura Centuries (7th -10th Century ) can be visited .The area is said to have been the Palace of Rani mandodri and sita was kept here before she was transferred to Ashok Vatika . Gurulpotha is the Aircraft Repair centre of Ravana (the Sinhalese meaning is part of birds) . Even Valmiki Ramanaya has mention of Pushpak Vimana the flowery vehicle resembling Cloud and DanduMonara –Another Peacock shaped Flying Aircraft used by Ravana

KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA (21/2 hr drive)

Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple Since Chinmaya Mission aims at promoting the Ramayana Philosphy so they had built the Hanuman temple on the Road of Rambodaenroute Kandy to NuwaraEliya (mainroaad) .Ramboda is a Tamil word means Rama’s force and this is the place where Rama gathered his force /troops . Gavagala is located eastern side ofNuwaraEliya at the road to Walapane.
The location is known as Ravana’s Dairy Farm. Milk was airlifted in routine by using Vimana’s to the Lankapura . The Stone Pillars in Gavagala still show the marks cast with constant tying ropes on them (optional)
RavanaGoda is the region on the Ramboda hill in the Kotamalevalley , it is believed Sita stayed here in transit before she shifted to AshokaVatika . RavanaGoda is one of the Popualr cave which was part of the underground Tunnel network of Ravana’sKingdom . Due to landslide the entrance was closed on 1947 . The cave is believed to be prison of Ravana and until now it is not fully explored .



Seetha Amman Temple, Seetha Eliya. – [Approx 20 mints Drive]
The Seetha Amman Temple can be visited enroute to the Hakgala Botanical Garden . The architecture of the temple attracts visitors and is associated to Sitadevi , since the water stream runs
From the hills to quench the thirst and the other needs of water during the stay at Ashok Vatika . Now we can see temple erected for LrdRama ,Laxmana m Sita and Hanumana . Even the Hanuman footprints can be seen in varing sizes here . The temple is now decorated with the sculptures, paintings , statues and pillars . The rear of the temple overlooks the stream and from the front you can see HakgalaPeak .

Hakgala Botanical Gardens
The Hakgala Botanical Garden was the botanical Garden was the pleasure garden of King Ravana and was extended during the British Period and has wide variety of flowers and orchids . This is the place where Sita Met Hanuman who brought Rama’s ring and the news Rama is looking for her . He offered her to carry her back but she refused and said it would be insult to the Rama’s honor . Hanuman Destroyed the Garden and only portion of it can be seen as the botanical garden now

Divurumpola Temple
Divurpola is the place where Sita Mata underwent the famous Kaand of Agni pareeksha in order to prove her Chastity . The lord of Fire rose from the flames and lifted her aside unharmed and presented that Sita was pure . The Sinhalese call it Market of oath and today temple is helpful in settling the various disputes . Not only the legends but also has the inscription on the moonstone guarding the Devale on the premises .

Ella : In the afternoon we visit Ella
In the afternoon visit Ella a small township where Ravana was hiding Sita .First there is Ravana Ella Cave located at the massive Ella falls – the massive 1080 ft falls divides into several falls . The waterfall water undergoes on Khondalite a kind of limestone which decay fast and resultant to several caves near the waterfalls .Ravana is believed to have meditated near the waterfall and even Sita is said to have bathed here Overnight stay at Nuwara-Eliya



After breakfast check out and drive to Columbowe leave for Colombo. Afternoon City tour of Colombo : Colombo is a fascinating City with blend of East and Wesy and it is a capital of the country and has attractions of Buddhist , Hindu Temple , old parliament buildings , church , zoo , museum and galleries , Evening free for Shopping Dinner and overnight stay at Coolumbo.



After breakfast Check out and Drive towards Chilaw and visit Munishwaram temple – The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in Munishwaram . It is believed that Lord Rama after winning the battle with Ravana upon returning to Ayodhya with Sita in one of the Ravana’sVimanas felt that he is being followed by the BramhaasthiDosham ( A malevolent shadow ) since he had killed Ravana who was a Brahmin by origin. He asked for help to Lord Shiva since he realized that shadow was not following at this particular point . Shiva blessed Rama and adviced him to place 4 Lingams and pray at Manavari , ThiruKoneshwaram , ThiruKetheshwaram and Ramshwaram at India as the only cure and remedy to the Dosham /Problem.

The first lingam was placed atManavariand later the Temple was built about 5km from here, near the banks of the DeduruOya and till date this lingam is called as Ramalinga Shivan.
