Important Pre-Departure Information
Be sure to bring warm clothing as nights and early mornings can be quite chilly to downright cold. Women Pilgrims strictly no Sari. Bring all the film, medicine, cosmetics, personal toilet items etc. that you will need from home as these are difficult if not impossible to obtain on the way. A small first aid kit is also a good idea.
Winter wear: Down jacket, raincoat or windbreakers, thermal under wears, Jackets, warm trousers & woolen shirts (cotton will also do), warm sweaters, woollen gloves, sun hat, comfortable shoes, light leather boots in case of snow, woollen balaclava (‘monkey cap’) & scarf/dust mask to protect your eyes & nose from dust.
This is one of the toughest high altitude trek. You Must be physically fit – no two ways about that. Generally patients with asthma & heart problems have a problem acclimatizing to high altitudes. In your interests it is essential you should be examined by your doctor to know about your health condition and your ability to cope up with the rigors of high altitude travel for days in ‘no road’ conditions, extreme cold, dust, trekking to an altitude of 19500 ft.
As you are traveling over high terrain, you are likely to experience symptoms and discomfort of altitude sickness (headache, loss of appetite, nausea, exhaustion, sleeplessness, breathlessness etc.) until your body adjusts to the elevation. This can take a couple of days or more depending on an individual. Drink plenty of water, be calm, and do not exercise. Do not drink alcohol or smoke prior to and during the tour. We also recommend you carry a strip of Diamox tablets. Do consult your physician on the dosage.

The ideal weather to conduct the Adi Kailash touris April – October as the temperature is good and monsoon falls in between this schedule and the region is prone to landslides and rain ++ due to hills.
Weather in Adi Kailash Trek
Summer: Summer months May and June is the best time to conduct the Adi Kailash. The sun make the region bit warm and thechillingarea of Adi Kailash and trekkers find it easy to settle and acclimatize with the environment.
Monsoon: During monsoon season of July and August , the entire terrain gets slippery and climbers find it very difficult to commute on the route.
Spring: September& beginning of October is the beautiful spring time good and scenic to make way to Adi Kailash. Bright Sun and Tranquil atmosphere make it ideal for the tour.
Adi Kailash: Adi Kailash is also famous as Shiva Kailash, Baba Kailash, Chota Kailash, or Jonglingkong Peak, a mountain situated in the Himalayan mountain range in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India. The abode of Lord Shiva popularly known as Adi-Kailash is in the Indian Territory, close to the Indo Tibetan Border. As per the mythology Adi-Kailash is worshiped as the abode of Lord Shiva and has been considered the most sacred and revered mountain ranges in the world.
‘Adi Kailash’ is considered Lord Shiva’s oldest abode. Ravana is Biggest Follower of Lord Shiva. Ravana comes from south (Lanka) to the far North Adi Kailash to pray Lord Shiva. Adi Kailash popularly known as Chotta Kailash is a holy place on an ancient pilgrim route in the Himalayan Range close to the Indo-Tibetan border. It is similar to Mount Kailash in Tibet in its spiritual significance. Though in a very remote area, the Darshan (view) of Lord Shiva’s abode is well worth the effort it takes to get there. It is an area of great natural beauty, peace and serenity. Among the five abode of Shiva ‘Adi Kailash’ is situated in Kumaon Mandal in Uttarakhand.
OM Parvat: It’s a miracle of nature, the shape of valley & peaks forms natural OM. One can see white (Snow) OM on black background. No hypothesis, no assumption, & no imagination are required to visualize OM. OM-The symbol and guide to meditation connecting Man, God and the Universe Chanted at the beginning and finale of all proceedings, extolled in the Upanishads as the best and most effective symbol of God.Om Parvat can be seen en route to the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from the last camp below Lipulekh Pass at the Nabhidhang Indo-China border post guarded by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, which also houses the Public Works Department guest house on the Indian side. Many trekkers of Adi Kailash often make a turn to see Om Parvat. Om Parvat is located near the NabhiDhang Camp on the Kailash-Lake Mansarovar Yatra route.
From Navidang “Aum Parvat” the miracle of nature is clearly perceptible. Snow lies on this mountain in the shape of a perpetual “Aum”, the primordial sound. All other slopes may be bare but this inscription in snow is everlasting and as one observes it, one gets the feeling that the mountain itself is Lord Shiva incarnate
